Scottish Youth Fly Fishing Team

The Scottish Youth Fly Fishing Team is made up of talented young anglers driven by their passion for competitive fly fishing. Many of Scotland’s top fly anglers have honed their skills through the team’s development program.

For those eager to represent Scotland, annual qualifiers are held to discover and nurture new talent. The Scottish Youth National Competition takes place across two heats—one at the Lake of Menteith and the other at Harelaw Fishery. Young anglers are paired with experienced boatmen at both venues, and the top 16 performers (including carryovers from the previous year) earn a place on the team for the following year’s international competition. Additionally, two runner-up anglers are offered trainee positions.

Participants must be aged 12 to 18 years to take part.
